After the terror attacks in Mumbai the Indian government barred foreigners from renting local phones and SIM Cards but FoneRent has managed to secure SIMs after agreeing special conditions with both the network and the Indian authorities.

David Gill from FoneRent was delighted to annouce a resumption of service and added, 'We had such a demand for the India Service, in part due to the high cost of roaming and also with Commonwealth Games coming up that it was inconceivable that we would not have service. As such, I am delighted that we have been able to meet the clients needs'.

Users will have to provide information to secure a rental including passport and Visa copies, but the good news is low rates are back on the menu in India. Check out the rates here.
