Event Managers Get The Message.

Often overlooked as a cost for any major event or corporate trip is the cost of mobile communication and at an Event Managers Seminar, in Cape Town this July it was the subject of great debate.

David Gill, one of the founders of FoneRent and a mobile rental veteran of 20 years plus, presented several case studies to the assembled experts from all over the world. These studies highlighted not only the potential savings made by companies who choose to rent at events but also the opportunity to drive value added services and in some cases the commissions to be made.

One topic that created much debate was the EU cap on roaming rates which many were not aware does not extend to long-haul destinations and there was a real disparity bewteen roaming and local rates, often as much as £1.00 or $1.50 per minute. Indeed, one US based tour operator who engaged FoneRent was able to demonstrate saving of almost US$5,000.00 on a one week trip for 15 people. 

Simply put FoneRent make staying connected easy while saving clients upwards of 70%. David Gill added, 'It is way more than just delivering a phone. We programme phones with a full address book of users numbers so people can 'dial by name' and we offer broadcast texting to ensure smooth and consistant communication. We must be doing something right,' added Gill, 'as not only do we get a great deal of repeat business but our competitors are copying pretty much everything we do! That is the greatest compliment of all but we will not rest on our laurels and have several other inititaives in the pipeline to make sure we stay ahead'.

Alberto Paiva, a tour operator from Brazil was at the conference, as well as hosting several hundred Brazilian Fans at World Cup and he said, 'I never realised just what we as a Company spend over and above what we need to. I will be offering this to all my clients for the Olympics in London and will of course be working with FoneRent'.

FoneRent have also launched new services such as Laptop Rental and 2-Way Radio Hire to ensure the overall event experience is second to none. This was seen in its true value at the World Cup where FoneRent looked after a host of clients from media to teams and of course hospitality businesses. These included CNN, ESPN, the BBC and 8 national teams.
