Snow Roaming for Vancouver Olympics

A host of media, Olympic Committees, competitors and spectators took advantage of the FoneRent Canada service this February to stay in touch at the Winter Olympics.

Utilising the Canadian GSM FIDO Network, clients were able to halve their call costs compared to roaming and with high-speed 3G Data too, surfing and talking were also great value. FoneRent was also delighted to supporting a number of teams that all combined, took home a haul of over 50 medals. 

Gerhard Blicx, one if the European ski coaches gave his verdict on the FoneRent service. 'Vancouver has been a great success as an event and especially for the athletes taking part. For our Team Operations, solid and reliable communication across Whistler, Calgary and Vancouver were essential. All our FoneRent mobiles were ready to go 'out of the box' and I cannot think of one single time we had an issue, that is the best compliment I can add. The only time we called the FoneRent Team was to tell them the phones needed collecting, and that was done within 2 hours. Brilliant'.

Ian Duff, Head of Logistics at FoneRent spent sevral days in Canada with the Support Team and added, 'the network was really robust in terms of capacity and quality. These are the 2 biggest criterea for us when selecting a partner and FIDO delivered. It was also a testemant to the pre-event Team who manage all the preparations that in the lead up to the event there were minimal issues to deal with and our Support Team was even able to enjoy a little free time in Vancouver'.

FoneRent now prepare for a busy summer invoving the World Cup 2010 in South Africa and the Commonwealth Games in India amongst several other major projects.
